This is a very popular race among Essex running clubs and is based in the North Essex town of Tiptree. It is organised by the Tiptree Road Runners Club. The race’s HQ is the Thurstable School and Leisure World site and there is a 10 minute walk to the start. It is run almost entirely on quiet country lanes, going through the villages of Messing, Hardy’s Green and Easthorpe. It is surprisingly undulating, by Essex standards, and has a challenging incline between 8 and 9 miles. Limited places are available to register on the day. Car Park is in the school car park and free, however, places are limited so late arrivals may have to park in the streets nearby.
This race won the Howard Williams Trophy in 2010, 2012, 2018 & 2021 awarded to the best road race in Essex as voted for by the running clubs.
