One of the more scenic ParkRuns in Essex. Much of the run is along the promenade of the estuary, with views of the picturesque Maldon old town.
 
It is a 2 lap course with a short further lap around a field at the start. Most of the run is on tarmac paths, with short sections on grass and on a path through the wood, that can get a little muddy in winter.
 
Car parking is at Promenade Park and is chargeable. The ParkRun has been growing in popularity and now has a big field with more than 500 runners, sometimes over 600. It does get quite congested for the first 1k or so and slows to a walk for a couple of the corners, so if you want a fast time, best to get near the front. There are number of nice cafés near the start and finish to get a post-run coffee.
