The event is organized by the Chelmsford Athletics Club and is based at the Melbourne Athletics Stadium in Chelmsford, which is also the home of Chelmsford City FC. It is notable as it has a stadium finish, with the finish line in-front of one of the stadium’s main stands. The event takes place on a Sunday afternoon in November. However, there were plans to hold a second similar event at Easter on Good Friday, but the first event was postponed due to CoVid. Hopefully the Easter event will take place when things get back to normal. The race start is a 10 minute walk from the stadium in Chignal Road. The start can be slightly chaotic, but given it is chip timing, it doesn't really matter. The route is a very pleasant run around country lanes through the Chignals, with the last 2k or so back through the town to the stadium. Car parking is free at the stadium car park, but can be limited for the late arrivals.

This race has not been run since CoVid, not sure why, Chelmsford Athletics Club is still going, but no longer seem to organised open road races.
