This event started in 1983 and has been run every year since, CoVid excepting. It is a big charity event organized by the Rotary Club of Chelmsford Mildmay & Chelmsford Rivermead  and over the years has raised £000's for local charities. It has a large field ranging from top club runners to charity joggers / walkers. The course is mainly through the suburbs of Chelmsford, so not as scenic as some races, but has the benefit of lots of spectators cheering on runners from their front gardens giving out jelly babies and wine gums or spraying you with water, as it always seems to be run on one of the hottest days in May. The route also has a pleasant rural stretch at about 7 miles towards the Hanningfields for a couple of miles. The race starts and finishes at the Great Baddow Recreational Ground and car parking is free and close by. There is also a 2 mile fun run that starts after the main event.

This race was not run in 2023, but due to return in 2024.
